INVITATION TO BID
NORTHERN SUNRISE COUNTY
RAW WATER SUPPLY AND FILL STATIONS - CONTRACT 9

Sealed bids marked "Bid for the Northern Sunrise County, Contract 9- Raw Water Supply and Fill Stations” will be received at the offices of Northern Sunrise County, Bag 1300, Junction of Highway 2 and Highway 688, Peace River, AB T8S 1Y9, up to 2:00 pm local time, Friday, July 3, 2009.

The raw water supply portion of the work involves the supply and installation/construction of the pumping equipment for a low lift pump station located in an existing river water intake on the Peace River; an approximately 5,000 m3 clay lined desiltation pond; and a high lift pump station. The three fill stations portion of the work involves the supply and installation/ construction of all aspects of the proposed fill stations which are to provide water from the proposed transmission line, which is currently under construction by others, to the reservoirs at the fill station locations. This work includes all aspects of construction including civil, structural, process, mechanical and electrical installation and is therefore well suited to a general contractor with previous similar pumping, piping and water treatment plant related construction experience.

The low lift pumphouse on the Peace River is an existing structure and two submersible pumps complete with electrical supply and controls are required to lift the raw water into the desiltation pond. The desiltation pond will require approximately 20,000m3 of fill to be compacted in place, with the majority of the clay liner material being trucked from 6 km offsite. Clearing and grubbing of a portion of the desiltation pond site is required. The entire site is to be chain link fenced, roads gravelled, and rip rap is required. The high lift pump station will involve the construction of a new cast in place wet well, 10.8m x 10.8m x 5.2m in height. The high lift pumphouse will be a pre engineered metal clad building. All PVC and metal piping, valves, pumps, electrical equipment and controls, SCADA, etc, are to be supplied and installed by the contractor.

The fill station at Three Creeks is the renovation of an existing truck fill reservoir, with an approximate capacity of 45m3. This reservoir will need to be taken out of service, the supply lines re-valved and redirected, a 5 hp submersible pump installed, new flow meters, chlorine analyzer, pressure sustaining valve, PRV, and SCADA connected. The fill station at the Shell In-Situ plant will involve the installation of a pre fabricated concrete building, and all of the required piping, controls, and SCADA equipment to provide water to an existing 20 m3 reservoir. The fill station at Cadotte Lake will involve the installation of the same equipment as the other fill stations into an existing water treatment plant with a 1,218 m3 storage capacity.

Contract documents will be available for pickup by interested General Contractors at the offices of Associated Engineering Alberta Ltd., #1000, 10909 Jasper Avenue, Edmonton, AB T5J 5B9 and Northern Sunrise County offices at the Junction of Highway 2 and Highway 688, Peace River, AB T8S 1Y9 on or after Tuesday, June 16, 2009 upon a deposit of $100.00 per set, GST included. Deposits will be refunded only to those General Contractors submitting bona fide bids. Documents can also be downloaded from the CoolNet Electronic Plans Room (Edmonton, Grande Prairie, and Peace River) site at no charge to their members. It is the Contractor’s responsibility to obtain any and all Addenda from the Electronic Plans Rooms if the original contract documents are obtained from the Electronic Plans Room.
