The Government of Canada is now providing funding so that potential suppliers can access electronic documentation relating to federal opportunities on the Government Electronic Tendering Service (GETS) free of charge. GETS supports the federal government’s sustainable development practices as it encourages moving procurement from a paper-based to an expanded electronic service.
GC Documents may not be redistributed, in whole or in part, in any form or by any means without the prior written permission of the Minister of the Department of Public Works and Government Services, except to the extent permitted by the Copyright Act.

Insert: 31 August 2007

1. Purpose

Canada Center for Remote Sensing is seeking expressions of
interest from Industry to solicit a sound and comprehensive body
of knowledge that encompasses current thinking, state-of-the-art
business practices and supporting technologies for the provision
of operations and maintenance of the Prince Albert and Gatineau
Satellite Stations and the Satellite Acquisition Services
Center. Services will be provided for the operations and
maintenance of all CCRS satellite acquisition and reception
services for a proposed period of two years with the option to
extend for a period of one year at Canada's discretion.

2. General

This Request for Information (RFI) is not a Request for Proposal
(RFP) and no contract will be awarded following receipt of
information. Canada seeks input on industry best practices with
respect to overall operations and maintenance of CCRS's
satellite acquisition and reception services, bases of payment
and methods of payment for the proposed services. Industry
stakeholders that consider that they have relevant capabilities
and/or experience and/or interest should forward a response to
the address provided on the first page of this document.
Industry stakeholders providing information through this RFI
process can also indicate interest in bidding on a subsequent
RFP.

Key information derived from this RFI may be used as potential
parameters in a formal RFP to deliver satellite acquisition and
reception services. Industry stakeholders responding to this
RFI should identify any submitted information that is to be
considered as either company confidential or proprietary.

NOTE: It is not intended that industry stakeholders prepare
detailed proposals at this time. It is important however that
they provide the critical information requested regarding
current business practices and technologies and an indication,
in broad terms, as to how they would approach the operation and
maintenance of CCRS's satellite acquisition and reception
services to achieve the objectives set out in the draft RFP
attached or to comment on any related elements. However, should
you have questions or comments please provide them in writing
(email or fax) to the Contracting Authority.

Canada reserves the right to alter, amend, delete, or add, in
whole or in part, any terms or provisions of the draft RFP
document. The draft RFP is available in English only. The
formal RFP document, when published, will be available in both
Official Languages.

An industry information session will be held for all interested
parties at the Canada Center for Remote Sensing Offices, Room
100, 615 Booth Street, Ottawa, ON at 8:30 hours on August 08,
2007. A site visit to the Gatineau Satellite Station, 75
McClelland Rd., Cantley, QC will take place in the afternoon of
August 08. To participate in the information session and/or the
site visit, respondents must register in writing (email or fax)
with the Contracting Authority prior to close of business on
August 03, 2007. A maximum of two (2) representatives from each
firm may attend.
