Part 1 Relocate Fencing and Gates

1.1 Scope

.1 Keyano College requires a contractor to modify an existing Gravel Parking Lot located at the SEIC Campus at 160 MacKenzie Blvd, Ft. McMurray, Alberta. The purpose will be to move existing fencing to allow for further parking stalls, create a drainage ditch approximately 140 meters long for necessary drainage, remove any sub-par materials in the parking area and replace with appropriate road crush. The finishing will require the installation of 280 meters of post and board parking rail. The existing plug- in electrical service will be re-used on the new parking rail.

A pre-bid site visit is mandatory.

The work of this specification shall include, but not necessarily be limited to the following:

•    Moving existing chain-link fences in order to make way for new parking stalls. (approximately 200 meters). Provide and install new poles using augured holes and concrete.
•    Installation of two new sliding gates with opening of 16 feet
•    Moving the existing sliding gate to new location
•    Re-install 32.4 of chain link fencing on south west side of building including a 4’ lockable gate.
•    Move an existing section of fence, (55 meters) back from the road by 6.12 meters. Will require new poles.

1.2    Contractor General Undertaking

.1 The contractor shall supply all necessary labour and materials for the movement and replacement if necessary of any chain link fencing and sliding gates. This would include and not necessarily be limited to, chain link fencing, concrete, auguring, and any other equipment and materials necessary in the completion of this job.

.2     The Contractor shall indicate at the time of quoting any changes to the locations of the fencing and parking stalls or amounts of materials needed. The contractor will see the location of the new fence during the pre-bid site visit.

.3     The Contractor shall provide a sample of all finishing products for approval by the PMO (Project Management Office) or by owner’s representative.

1.3    Liaison with others

.1 The Contractor shall co-ordinate the timing of all work with the Project Management Office or Owner’s representative. Any disruptions to traffic flow to back yard area must be identified and a solution negotiated. Safety is the primary goal.

1.4    Quality Assurance

.1 The Contractor must be engaged in the construction industry as a contractor.

1.5 Safety.

.1 The materials supplied shall conform to all applicable code requirements and shall be in conformance with industry standards of operation and practices. Contractor must work within established industry safety guidelines. All workers shall have own PPE, marker vests and hard hats. Tailgate meetings must occur at the start of each work day to identify risks.

1.6 Delivery, Storage and Handling

.1 The Contractor shall be responsible for all tools, equipment and related materials during the period of construction.

1.7 Cleanup and Damage

.1 The Contractor shall be responsible for the cleanup and protection of all surfaces or equipment in and around the Site.

Any use of flammable or toxic chemicals on college property by the contractor is prohibited without the express knowledge and written permission of the Director of Facilities.

.2 The contractor shall be responsible for disposing of all excess materials and cut offs and refuse from the site. Every opportunity must be made to exercise re-cycling and or separation of materials for re-cycling. Discussion will be held to minimize any removal of materials off of the Keyano site.

1.8 Submittals

.1 The Contractor shall provide a written description of all materials needed for the completion of all fencing, parking rails, ditch preparation and parking lot repair.

.2 The Contractor shall submit their quotation on the form provided with this specification. It is understood that this is a quotation and the low quote will not necessarily be awarded the contract. Every attempt will be made by the owner to keep quotations confidential.
.3 The Contractor shall submit a written list of materials required for completion of job with bid.

1.09    Warranty

.1 The Contractor shall provide a warranty for workmanship and parts for the electrical installation. The warranty period shall begin upon the owner’s acceptance upon the inspection of the chain link fence and gates. The warranty period shall not be less than 60 days or stated manufacturer’s stated warranty.

1.10    Inspection

.1 Upon completion of installation of the chain link fencing and sliding gates the contractor will notify the owner’s representative, who will schedule an inspection.

.2 Invoices will not be accepted unless accompanied by a sign off sheet at the time of inspection by the owner’s representative.

1.11    Work Hours

Work shall be conducted during normal college times of 8:30 am – 4:30 pm, Monday through Friday. Any additional access times must be made known to the Project Management office or Owner’s representative with 48 hours notice so that arrangements can be made with security.


Part 2 Parking Lot Gravel and Parking Rails

2.1 Scope of Work

.1 Keyano College requires a contractor to modify an existing Gravel Parking Lot located at the SEIC Campus at 160 MacKenzie Blvd, Ft. McMurray, Alberta. The purpose will be to move existing fencing to allow for further parking stalls, create a drainage ditch approximately 140 meters long for necessary drainage, remove any sub-par materials in the parking area and replace with appropriate road crush. The finishing will require the installation of 280 meters of post and board parking rail. The existing plug- in electrical service will be re-used on the new parking rail.

The work of this specification shall include, but not necessarily be limited to the following:

•    Responsible for acquiring all necessary permits. Copy of permits must be posted with Project Management office
•    Remove all growth from existing property fence of described area (140 meters). 6 feet of each side
•    Construct drainage ditch parallel with property fence located on Northwest corner of lot adjacent to Parking Lot B. This gravel lot is considered as Parking Lot B addition.
•    Install gravel in ditch and vegetation control.
•    Assess lot for sub standard materials and remove if necessary.
•    Add necessary road crush and prepare lot with grade to ditch.
•    Add necessary wooden parking rail for two rows. Approximately 280 meters. Will require auguring of holes for posts.
•    Reinstall existing electrical plug-ins to rail.

2.2         Contractor General Undertaking

.1 The contractor shall supply all necessary labour and materials for the preparation and creation of a drainage ditch and parking lot with wooden parking rails and any other equipment necessary in the completion of this job.

.2     The Contractor shall indicate at the time of quoting any changes to the locations or concerns with materials as specified.

.3     The Contractor shall provide a list of products used for construction for approval by the PMO (Project Management Office) or owner’s representative.

2.3     Liaison with others

2.3.1 The Contractor shall co-ordinate the timing of all work with the Project Management Office or Owner’s representative. The contractor is responsible for liaison with the Keyano College electrician. Any interruptions with traffic flow from the back yard must be coordinated with the appointed Keyano Representative.

2.4     Quality Assurance

.1 The Contractor must be engaged in the construction industry as an certified contractor or company that has a registered business license.

2.5 Safety.

.1 The materials supplied shall conform to all applicable code requirements and shall be in conformance with industry standards of operation and practices. 2.6     Delivery, Storage and Handling

.1 The Contractor shall be responsible for the safe storage of all tools, equipment and related materials during the period of construction.

2.7    Cleanup and Damage

.1 The Contractor shall be responsible for the cleanup and protection of all surfaces or equipment in and around the Parking lot. Any digging must be accompanied by a locate of private power lines.

.2 The contractor shall be responsible for disposing of all excess materials and cut offs and refuse from the site. Every opportunity must be made to exercise re-cycling and or separation of materials for re-cycling.

2.8     Submittals

.1 The Contractor shall provide technical descriptions or catalogue tear sheets for components as part of the quoting documentation requested by the specification.

.2 The Contractor shall submit their quotation on the form provided with this specification. It is understood that this is a quotation and the low quote will not necessarily be awarded the contract. Every attempt will be made by the owner to keep quotations confidential.

2.9     Warranty

.1 The Electrical Contractor shall provide a warranty for workmanship and parts for the electrical installation.
