ISSUED BY: PSB

The MB4Youth Division (Department of Education, Citizenship and Youth)
invites prospective individuals and organizations to submit proposals
for the provision of up to fifty two weeks of Professional Services to
deliver an internship program for Aboriginal high school students in
northern Manitoba (north of the 53rd). It is believed that by creating
opportunities for Aboriginal students to access meaningful internships
with local employers they would gain positive work experience, knowledge
of work expectations, develop career interests and an attachment to the
Manitoba labour force.

This procurement is set aside for Manitoba Aboriginal businesses under
Manitoba's Aboriginal Procurement Initiative. Only proponents and
subcontractors who are considered to be an Aboriginal business, based in
Manitoba shall be considered for this procurement.

The "Aboriginal Youth Internship Program" will provide career awareness
information and employment opportunities to Aboriginal high school
students in northern Manitoba. A similar program is currently operating
for approximately 30 grade 11 and 12 students with host employers for
one afternoon a week from February to June in the Winnipeg Capital
region.

Participating employers were expected to provide summer employment to
interns who successfully completed the unpaid work portion of the
program. The Service Provider will provide placements supports,
mentoring, educational sessions, and monitoring of student participants
throughout the internship.

Refer to subsequent RFP for details.
