Notice Description

Professional Instructional Design Services (Lower Mainland)

viaSport is an independent non-profit organization which seeks to provide equitable opportunities for all British Columbians to develop and realize their potential through sport. viaSport is seeking information regarding professional instructional design services to develop in-person training workshops for sport and recreation leaders on topics related to the inclusion of marginalized youth.

Funded by the B.C. Alliance for Healthy Living, this project aims to equip front-line sport and recreation leaders to better meet the needs of youth who face additional barriers to participation. To date, consultations have taken place with multiple stakeholders including over 230 youth, 500 recreation staff and 130 youth workers. Training will be delivered in person through existing regional delivery systems across the province and evaluated based on participant feedback. The vision is that this training will equip sport and recreation workers with information and resources that will allow them to better serve youth from marginalised populations.

The proposed project deliverables will include curriculum design, and the development of course content with support materials. The target audience for the proposed curriculum includes front-line recreation staff (i.e. g cashiers, program leaders and instructors), mid-level recreation staff (i.e. recreation programmers, managers and supervisors), and community coaches. The first iteration of the training is required by is March 31, 2018 with pilots, evaluation and refinement to follow.

viaSport is seeking an Instructional Designer with previous experience or expertise delivering training related to cultural sensitivity and/or diversity and inclusion. Priority will be given to firms who have a reputation for creating positive user experiences and have demonstrated an ability to work well in collaboration with diverse stakeholders. Preference will be given to firms based in B.C.

Candidates should include the following in their applications:
1)Brief description of previous projects of a similar nature and scope
2)Indication of availability to complete the majority of work between January and March
3)High level overview of process and costs for completing the work
4)References for previous projects of similar nature and scope
