Notice Description

  Royal British Columbia Museum - Landscaping & Grounds Maintenance

Notice is hereby given by the Royal BC Museum Corporation ("RBCM") of its intent to extend its current service agreement for Landscaping Services with Highland Garden Care to maintain the consistency of service and level of experience with landscaping on the site.
The current service agreement is set to expire March 31st, 2018 and the Royal BC Museum is extending the service agreement to March 31st, 2020.

The extension will enable the Museum and Archives (the "Museum") to finalize the phased site development renewal of the overall master plan which includes a review of all Landscaping Services which may become part of any future re-development of the site.
Landscaping Services include, but are not limited to, the following which may be amended during the term of the Contract as required at the sole discretion of the RBCM.

Replace plant labels/ beds as required;

Daily garbage removal from beds by 9am. During July and August garbage is to be removed twice daily, once in the morning and once in the afternoon.

Watering of beds to be completed by 12 noon daily;

Planted, sidewalks, stairs and paved areas to be kept free of weeds by shallow cultivation. RBCM policy is one of no chemical controls;

Design and carry out pest prevention

Fertilizers supplied and applied by the contractor;

Top soil supplied and applied by the contractor;

Peat supplied and applied by the contractor;

Leaf mulch is to be picked up and delivered and spread by the Contractor;

Rotted wood mulch up to a maximum of 5m3 is to be supplied and applied by the Contractor;

Certain identified areas are to be kept clean and free of debris at all times;

Garbage is not to be left onsite overnight;

Pruning as required by RBCM;

Contractor will provide all plastic bags as required to haul away daily garden waste;

Dealing with snowfalls, icy conditions (including ice melt application), severe frosts, windstorms, is a priority and must be responded to 7 days per week, all entrances and exits are to be addressed and cleared by 7:30 am or earlier;

Contractor will supply all equipment and tools required to perform the work. The equipment shall be modern, lowest decibel equipment available, and kept in first class operation condition;

An extension to the Highland Garden Care service agreement will allow the Royal BC Museum the time to develop and review a new focus and vision for the overall Landscaping Services plan for any future phased site renewal.

Highland Garden Care has extensive knowledge of the site and is able to maintain the consistency of service and level of experience with landscaping on the site leading up to any phased site development.

Vendors wishing to object to this decision should contact Jerry Gauthier, Procurement Specialist, Procurement Services Branch, by facsimile at 250-387-7309 or e-mail to on or before 2:00 P.M. on January 5th, 2018 with specific reasons for their objection. A company's past experience providing similar professional commercial services to a facility open to the general public, and their ability to provide these services for the same or better cost within the same time frame will be key considerations for determining the validity of any objections.

All amendments to the associated notice, including amended documents, plans and specifications (where applicable), are issued on BC Bid. MERX asks that you refer to the BC Bid notice for these amendments. MERX stipulates that potential bidders may also be required to register with the buying authority as a bidder/plan taker. The contact information can be found within the notice abstract.
