Notice Description

Boreal Centre for Bird Conservation Interpretive Display Detailed Design, Fabrication, and Installat

a)    Project Background
The Boreal Center for Bird Conservation (BCBC) was built in 2006. It is an environmental learning and stewardship center owned by Alberta Parks and operated as a partnership between Alberta Parks and the Lesser Slave Lake Bird Observatory (LSLBO). It is located within Northern Alberta’s only flagship park, Lesser Slave Lake Provincial Park.
Exhibits at the BCBC date back to 2006, and are showing wear and tear from years of use. Aside from the wear and tear, there is also a need to refresh the permanent exhibits to present themes in a more modern, accessible, and engaging manner, and add the ability to display temporary exhibits.
A concept plan for new exhibits was developed in 2016/17. We are now ready for the detailed design, fabrication and installation of the new exhibits based on the Exhibit Concept Design: Boreal Centre for Bird Conservation (March 10, 2017) document.
b)    Project Objectives
The Exhibit Concept Design: Boreal Centre for Bird Conservation (March 10, 2017) was developed to meet the needs and vision of both Alberta Parks and the LSLBO for the new exhibits. Both organizations have approved the proposed content and overall look presented in the Exhibit Concept Design: Boreal Centre for Bird Conservation. The objectives of this project therefore include: detailed design comprising panel texts, images, graphics, and artwork; fully developed interactive activities and multimedia content; font, colour choices, and final layout; fabrication and installation of the exhibits in the BCBC and surrounding environment.
