Notice Description

RFP for Microsoft (MS) Windows Server 2012 Operating System Upgrade

The OEB is seeking to upgrade its server infrastructure from MS Windows Server 2008 Operating System (OS) to MS Windows Server 2012 OS along with the most up-to-date release. In addition, the project will also upgrade application software wherever necessary.

The OEB network environment supports a few floors and utilizes MS Windows Server 2008 R2 for Active Directory, Domain Controllers, DNS, DHCP, E-mail, File, Print and various Application servers. Most servers in Production and all servers in Dev and UAT are on a VMWare 5.1 Virtualized environment. The remaining servers are mainly database and file servers on physical boxes. A separate project is currently in progress to upgrade VMware to 6.0 which will be completed prior to this engagement. All server hardware for this assignment will be on HP c7000 with related BL 460c blades (Generation 9). The HP c7000 is connected to the HP EVA 4400 and 3P AR SAN storage. Each floor is connected to a Cisco switch which in turn is connected via GB fiber to the Cisco 6509 Master switch.

The e-mail system uses MS Exchange Server 2010 on a MS Windows Server 2008 R2 system along with Trend Micro spam and gateway. The Productivity suite is MS Office I Outlook 2010.

There are two major applications namely, Pivotal CRM 6.0.12 (From Aptean) and HP Trim 7.1 document management that are integrated and form the core business application at the OEB. These applications are installed on MS Windows Server 2008 R2 and connected to a clustered MS SQL Server 2008 database environment. HP Trim 7.1 Web Content Management (WCM) is used for the Web.

A Data Warehouse is connected to a server with MS Windows Server 2012 R2 OS and related MS SQL Server 2012 database environment and will not be in scope for this project. The Oracle Business Intelligence (BI) servers connect to the Data Warehouse will be in scope.

Daily and weekly backup of data is done using the NetBackup 7.5 application on a MS Windows Server 2008 R2. Snapshots and data are replicated to an offsite vendor named Storage Guardian for Data Recovery purposes. A separate project is currently in progress to review other backup products or upgrade to Netbackup 8.

The Finance team uses MS Dynamics GP 2013 installed on MS Windows Server 2008 R2 system.

MS System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM) 2007 and MS System Center Operations Manager (SCOM) 2007 on MS Windows Server 2008 R2 help the OEB to distribute software I patches and monitor the MS Windows environment. These servers are connected to a clustered MS SQL 2008 database environment.
