Engineering Services for a New Train Layover and Bus Facility, Shirley Avenue, Kitchener

Metrolinx is accepting bids (“Requests”) for the provision of Preliminary Design, Detailed Design and preparation of construction tender documents and Tender support services include, but not limited to, civil, track structural, architectural, electrical, mechanical and landscape architectural, and construction contract administration, site supervision and management of the services

A Mandatory Site / Information Meeting will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 21, 2014 at Metrolinx’s 200 Shirley Avenue Kitchener, Ontario N2B 2E1.

Take Highway 401 West to Highway 7/8 Interchange. Take Highway 8 to Kitchener/Waterloo. Proceed on Highway 8 West to Highway 7 East (Conestoga Parkway) until Wellington Street No. exit. Proceed east to Riverbend Drive/Shirley Avenue. Turn right onto Shirley Avenue.

Failure of Consultants to be present and registered from the time the meeting is called to order until the meeting is adjourned will result in exclusion from the site.

Consultants must wear hard hats, safety boots, safety vests and have safety glasses with them at the site meeting(s). Failure to satisfy these requirements will result in exclusion from the site.

Sealed Tenders will be accepted until 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 18, 2014 at the same Procurement and Contract Services Office, and will be opened by Metrolinx staff as soon as is practicable after the designated Tender Closing Time. Details on where and when vendors can obtain information on bids received, prices bid and contract awards will be specified in each tender document.

Please note, effective Monday, February 10th, 2014 for any newly issued tenders Metrolinx will no longer be conducting Public Openings.

Metrolinx reserves the right to reject any or all Requests at its sole discretion.

Only Consultants who possess the following experience and qualifications will be considered for award of this Contract:

The Consultant shall have a minimum of ten (10) years’ experience in design and construction:

(I) Track Layout

(II) Civil Works

(III) Architectural, Landscape and Structural design of rail maintenance and storage facilities

(IV) Architectural and Engineering design of bus servicing and storage facilities

(V) Telecommunication Tower

The Consultant shall have established relationships with sub-consultants having minimum of ten (years providing (if not part of the Consultant’s firm):

(I) Topographic and legal survey

(II) Geotechnical studies/design

(III) Noise and vibration studies

(IV) LEED

(V) Quantity Surveyor
