Notice Description

RFI-2015-IN-009: Shared Mobility and On-Demand Services: Understanding Applications to the GTHA

Metrolinx is accepting Requests for Information (RFI) for Shared Mobility and On-Demand Services: Understanding Applications to the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area.

Metrolinx, an agency of the Government of Ontario, was created to improve the coordination and integration of all modes of transportation in the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area (GTHA).

The organizationís mission is to champion, develop and implement an integrated transportation system for the region that enhances prosperity, sustainability and quality of life.

Metrolinx operates GO Transit, Canadaís largest inter-regional rail and bus network, which moves more than 270,000 people every weekday and 68 million passengers per year.

The organization also works with local municipalities and transit agencies to plan, build and deliver rapid transit projects across the province.

Along with GO Transit, Metrolinx operates the Union Pearson Express and the PRESTO smart-card fare system which is integrated with transit agencies across the GTHA.

Through this Request for Information (RFI) Metrolinx is seeking information on businessmodels/technologies/partnerships from organizations providing on-demand and/or shared mobility solutions in the following categories:

Ride-sourcing
Ride-sharing
Micro-transit
Car-sharing.

Solutions can enhance first-mile access (transporting customers between their point of origin and transit stations) and/or last-mile access (transporting customers between transit stations and their final destinations) but need not be limited to it.

Proponents are urged to select automatic notification of addenda issuance when registering on MERX.

It is the Proponentís responsibility to ensure receipt of copies of all addenda issued. Information concerning the number of addenda issued and the date of issue of the most recent addendum can be found at www.merx.com.

Responses to the Request for Information will be accepted until 3:00 p.m. EST on Tuesday, January 12, 2016 through Electronic Bid Submission (EBS) at MERX.
