RFP Number – CI-WFD2020003 - Child Intervention Practitioner Training Update

Workforce Development, Transition and Intervention Supports Division of Children’s Services (CS), oversees the creation and delivery of curriculum to support the learning and development of staff for Children’s Services (CS) and Delegated First Nations Agencies in Alberta (DFNA). Workforce Development (WFD) works collaboratively with key stakeholders in Child Intervention, CS and DFNAs to provide learning and development opportunities that align with the needs, priorities and practice initiatives to prepare staff to meet the demands of their role.

The Core Training program offered through WFD prepares CI practitioners for role specific responsibilities and for delegation, training approximately 240 CI practitioners in CS and DFNA’s across Alberta annually. Core Training is required training that consists of 10 workshops, equal to approximately 25 training days in the first 6 months of employment. Workshops are accredited under the Association of Social Work Boards and meet Category A requirements for Continuing Education Credits for Social Workers. Core Training was traditionally delivered through a classroom-based facilitation model utilizing a variety of adult learning methodologies including live and video presentations; case studies; skill practice; individual; and group learning activities.

The currently modules being offered continue to need updating/evergreening to reflect current practice.
