Description

The City of Calgary (“The City”), Roads Business Unit mines and crushes the gravel resource at the Spyhill landfill location to create landfill cells for disposal of municipal solid waste for Waste & Recycling Services (WRS). The crushed gravel resources are primarily for The City’s internal use. The Roads Crusher Plant has produced 400,000 tonnes of road gravels and will continue to mine in 2021 to create the additional landfill space required. The City has generated surplus gravel and intends to offer an opportunity to outside parties to purchase surplus road gravel and pit run from the Spyhill mining and crushing pit site.

Surplus Material Available for Sale at the Spyhill Mining & Crushing Site:
- 250,000 tonnes of road gravel and 400,000 tonnes of pit run are available for sale, The City will provide the sieve analysis report of road gravels. Located on Schedule A of the www.calgary.merx.com website.
• 25mm road gravel = 115,000 tonnes
• 40mm road gravel = 65,000 tonnes
• 80mm road gravel = 70,000 tonnes
• Pit Run from Cell 6 = 150,000 tonnes
• Pit Run from Cell 7 = 250,000 tonnes

Start and Completion Dates:
• Start date for the hauling of road gravels is 2021 March 22. At least 150,000 tonnes of road gravels must be hauled by the 2021June 15 and the remaining 100,000 tonnes must be completed by 2021 July 15.

• Start date for hauling of pit run is 2021 April 15. At least 150,000 tonnes must be hauled by the 2021 June 15 and the remaining 250,000 tonnes must be completed by 2021 November 15.
