Re: Women's Legacy Project - Decolonization Training and Interpretative Services
Notice is hereby given by the City of Vancouver ("City") of its intent to contract with Jada Gabrielle Pape for the provision of Decolonization Training and Interpretative Services for the Women's Legacy project.
The services will provide decolonization training for City staff members involved in the project's Working Group in order to deepen their awareness of redress, reciprocity and reconciliation. The Working Group will be providing technical support to the project's Steering Committee, which includes matriarchs from the Musqueam, Squamish and TsleilWaututh Nations, members from Urban Indigenous communities, as well as City of Vancouver staff . In addition, the services include assisting staff to facilitate the recommendations of the Steering Committee, with respect to the implementation of technical aspects of the project, to further the project's objective of developing affordable housing for women-led families with children, specifically Indigenous women.
Jada Gabrielle Pape is an expert in her field and has extensive experience working with rural and remote First Nations people and communities. Her anti-oppression and anti-racism work is founded in the traditional and wise teachings brought forward form Elders, Community Members and Mentors. Ms. Pape was commissioned to provide decolonization training for City staff members of the project's Steering Committee, as well as facilitation services for Steering Committee meetings. The services contained within this Notice of Intent to Contract, along with Ms. Pape's work with the Steering Committee complement each other as the work of the two committees will influence each other to guide the affordable housing project. As a result, it is important to have consistency between the decolonization work and facilitation services for both committees.
The contract is valued at approximately $68,000 to complete the deliverables.
