GOC2555470-CS - Decommission Dynamic Buffer Zone

Scope of Work/Overview:
The dynamic buffer zone air system was added in 1998 to protect the exterior limestone finish from freeze-thaw cycles that could cause spalling on the façade. The Carbon Neutral Study evaluated its effectiveness recommended the decommissioning of the dynamic buffer zone. This is largely due to a freeze-thaw wall analysis conducted on West Memorial Building, which has an identical wall assembly to that at EMB but without a dynamic buffer zone, and states that there is no display of significant surface or stone deterioration that could be attributed to the freeze-thaw damage. This project is initiated to decommission the dynamic buffer zone system. This includes capping and insulating ventilation ducts at the floor distribution level. ACMs are likely around the exterior wall. Consultant will be responsible to prepare any submissions required for FHBRO.
