This RFP is for the Saugeen Beach (formerly Sauble Beach) Washrooms Design, Decommissioning (provisional), Tendering (provisional) and Construction Administration / Inspection Services (provisional).
The project is located on Saugeen Beach (formerly Sauble Beach). This section of the beach has 2 existing washroom facilities in poor condition. The objectives of this project are to decommission the existing washrooms, design and build two new washrooms in the same locations, and design and build one additional washroom. Saugeen is interested in also having concession stands in the buildings, to be confirmed during the preliminary stage.
As the beach is very busy and environmentally sensitive, the Project Team at this point thinks that a prefabricated (prefab) building would be preferred, as this will reduce construction activities and schedule on site. The Consultant will be responsible for a competitive tendering or quotation process from prefab suppliers. The Consultant will provide guidance to the project team on when during the design phase the prefab supplier will be selected and engaged. The Consultant will be responsible for the design of the building and will coordinate the design with the prefab supplier.
As well as design, the Consultant will be responsible for issuing the construction tender of the project, and contract administration and inspection services. The Consultant will verify the schedule with Saugeen, however as the beach is very busy in summer months the construction work should occur during the off-season.
The Consultant’s responsibility includes all ancillary services, including electrical, mechanical, and civil, new septic tanks design, access for septic vehicles, security cameras and anti-graffiti measures, decommissioning one shallow groundwater well and installing two new deep groundwater wells and pumps for non-potable water servicing of the buildings, for the three new washroom facilities.
