Request for Expressions of Interest:
Detailed Design, Development and Management of 1,000-Acre Park in Burlington, Ontario
Nelson Aggregates is requesting expressions of interest from interested parties to partner on the detailed design, development and eventual management of a nearly 1,000-acre park in North Burlington. This RFEI is intended to determine whether or not there is sufficient market interest to proceed to a competitive bidding process. In the event there is sufficient interest in this requirement, Nelson may, but is not obligated to, initiate a competitive bidding opportunity.
Nelson Aggregate Co. is an aggregate mining and construction materials supply company. It is involved in the extraction, manufacturing and distribution of crushed limestone, sand and gravel, and asphalt products required in the construction industry.
Nelson’s Burlington Quarry is located on No 2 Sideroad off of Guelph Line. The quarry provides high quality limestone aggregate to Burlington, Halton and the GTA for all ranges of products from home and landscape construction to road construction including asphalt/concrete plants.
As part of a recent application to expand the quarry, Nelson is proposing to donate the land to the public in parcels over the next 30 years to form the largest park in Burlington. The nearly 1000-acre Mount Nemo Quarry Park would be more than twice the size of High Park in Toronto and could have dozens of uses - from rock climbing to beaches.
Nelson is looking for an interested party to partner with on the detailed design, development and eventual management of the park. The park will require land use planning approvals from the
Niagara Escarpment Commission, Region of Halton and City of Burlington.
More information on the proposed park is available here.
Interested parties are invited to respond to this RFEI by submitting a letter to Nelson that includes a brief statement of the nature of their interest in the park and any qualifications. There will be no evaluation, ranking, or selection of vendors as a result of this RFEI; it will not be used to pre-qualify or screen vendors for a subsequent competitive bidding process.
Respondents to the RFEI will be directly notified of any future competitive bidding opportunities. Subsequent competitive bidding opportunities will be issued through MERX.com.
Any expressions of interest or correspondence will be kept confidential.
Responses should be delivered by hand, regular mail, or email to the following location before October 15, 2020, and should quote RFEI Name: Quarry Park:
