Association of Canadian Occupational Therapy Regulatory Organizations

The Association of Canadian Occupational Therapy Regulatory Organizations — or ACOTRO — is the national organization of occupational therapy regulators in Canada. Our goal is to promote consistency and excellence in regulating occupational therapy across Canada.

ACOTRO’s ten provincial members protect the public by regulating the practice of occupational therapy in their respective provinces. We also provide guidance and information to occupational therapists seeking information on how to register in Canada. 

Primary Area of RFP Focus

The Substantial Equivalency Assessment System (SEAS) within ACOTRO facilitates the process for occupational therapists educated outside Canada who are interested in practicing in Canada.  SEAS will determine whether or not an applicant’s education and competencies are substantially equivalent to those of a Canadian-educated occupational therapist.  SEAS approval is mandatory to allow an occupational therapist to practice in Canada.  SEAS is the primary focus of this RFP and processes a minimum of 120 applications per year.  Applicants will remain on the system through the duration of the application process.

ACOTRO is inviting Service Providers to respond to this Request for Proposal for a system that can facilitate and manage the application process 24/7/365 from any location. This following list of high-level qualifying requirements should be reviewed before determining whether to proceed with an RFP response:

• All data collected and created with the system can be stored on Canadian located servers.
• System provides a process to register applicants using online forms.
• New forms and fields can be added to the system to meet ACOTRO’s needs.
• ACOTRO is able to create queries and reports using simple tools available with the system.
