CDA-AMC is undertaking foundational work to support the future development of a Canadian Drug Data Catalogue (“Catalogue”)—a web-based, publicly accessible resource designed to improve discovery and understanding of drug data assets across Canada. The Catalogue will serve as a top-layer navigational tool that links to existing data discovery platforms, helping users locate, compare, and assess key drug-related datasets through standardized metadata.
The work outlined in this contract includes two components:
Part A: Drug Data Asset Inventory: A comprehensive scan and documentation of drug data stewards and datasets across Canada—public, private and pan-Canadian —highlighting their characteristics, accessibility, governance, and linkability.
Part B: Best Practices in Data Cataloguing and Metadata Frameworks: An evidence-based review of national and international approaches to metadata cataloguing, with stakeholder engagement to define metadata standards and inform the Catalogue’s structure and interoperability requirements.
