Gwich’in Tribal Council (GTC), established in 1992, is an indigenous organization representing Gwich’in Participants in the Mackenzie-Delta of the Northwest Territories and across Canada. One of our objectives is to develop and promote economic, social, educational and cultural programs that will enable the Gwich’in to become self-sufficient and full participating members in a global society. The GTC’s Gwich’in Services Department plays a key role in carrying out that objective. The Department’s three divisions- Education, Wellness, and Economic Development -work together on selected initiatives.
The GTC wishes to develop a strategic plan that will guide the Gwich’in Services Department to focus upon priority goals and tasks. The plan will also delineate additional areas in which the three divisions may successfully collaborate. Given the substantial responsibilities borne by personnel within the Department, we believe that improvements in efficiencies and increased internal synergies combined with clear prioritization will enable the department to deliver programs and services more effectively.
