21081 - Fort Severn Water Treatment System Upgrade

The work in the community of Fort Severn First Nation generally includes but is not limited to:

Raw Water Supply Upgrade Works

1. Supply and install a new Floating Intake. (Details to be issued by Addendum)
2. Supply and install Heat Trace System including new controllers, cable/sensor repair/replacement as required, and recommissioning

1. Upgrade the slow sand filter including ozonation system, roughing filter GAC, up-washing piping and new underdrains.
2. Upgrade the primary disinfection to UV (existing sodium hypochlorite disinfection system to be maintained as a back-up).
3. Upgrade secondary disinfection systems with new metering pumps (duty/standby and auto switchover). 
4. Repair damage insulation sections on Slow Sand Filter Trains
5. Replace existing instrumentation (flow meters, etc.) 
6. Upgrade on-line turbidity monitoring system: (i) high range turbidmeter on raw water supply line; ii) low range laser tubidimeters on each filter train effluent line; and iii) on main filter effluent line to reservoirs
7. Upgrade pH meter on raw water line.
8. Upgrade the PLC and SCADA system with a new system including integration with all instrumentation.

1. Provide complete servicing of diesel generator and report on remaining service life.

1. Perform watermain line swabbing
2. Service existing fire hydrants (minor repairs, refinishing, valve exercising)
3.  Supply and install new heat trace system (new controllers, cable/sensor repair/replacement as required, and recommissioning) with integration of the heat trace system with new SCADA system
4. Replace existing water service line saddles and supply and install electrofusion service saddles.
5. Temporary potable water services, hydrostatic testing, flushing and disinfection.
