To support the organization’s mission, Dairy Farmers of Canada (DFC) strategically developed its national quality assurance program, proAction®. Through proAction, Canadian dairy farmers can collectively demonstrate responsible stewardship of their animals and the environment, sustainably producing high-quality, safe and nutritious food for consumers.
DFC has completed the development of the proAction modules and now wants to conduct an overall review of the proAction program’s integrated requirements to identify opportunities for improvement (e.g. opportunities to strengthen the program, reduce inconsistencies, and identify areas that could be clarified, streamlined or removed), while maintaining the program’s rigour and credibility.
Furthermore, DFC would like an overall risk assessment process or tool developed for the program requirements, taking a holistic approach. Although each program module has conducted some type of risk assessment to rank requirements into three categories: critical, important or recommended; these risk assessments have only been conducted through the lens specific to the module, such as food safety risk, animal care risk, etc. Now that the program is integrated, an overall risk assessment process is required to help evaluate if the requirements from all modules in each ranking category match or should be adjusted.
Once the risk assessment tool is developed, DFC would like an overall risk assessment conducted using the custom-designed process or tool to identify areas of inconsistency or opportunity for improvement in the proAction ranking of importance for each requirement.
