DESCRIPTION OF THE WORK
2017/18 CATHODIC PROTECTION SYSTEM INSTALLATIONS, CHECKPOINT STATION POST REPLACEMENTS, SOLID STATE DECOUPLER INSTALLATIONS (VARIOUS SOUTHERN MANITOBA LOCATIONS)
1 SCOPE OF THE WORK
The Work shall consist in the supply of all that is required to complete the installation of impressed current cathodic protection systems, checkpoint station replacements, solid state decoupler installations as well as all surface restoration, all in accordance with Manitoba Hydro Standard Practices, Construction Drawings, References and Request for Quotation 040804.
The Work includes the installation of:
-Five (5) ground-beds, five (5) rectifiers and five (5) check points associated with the upgrade of the impressed current cathodic protection systems (ICCPS) for Manitoba Hydro's transmission natural gas steel pipelines.
-Replacement of up to 89 separate checkpoint stations on gas transmission pipelines in the general area of the ICCPS installations.
-Installation of three (3) solid state decouplers.
Refer to the Technical Requirements for details of the materials to be supplied by the Contractor and Purchaser.
The Work has been divided into two groups: Base Contract and Purchaser's Option. Descriptions listed below are provided as a general overview. Refer to the balance of the tender for more detailed information concerning the Work.
1.1 Base Contract:
Work for the base Contract shall consist of the following:
Item 1: Installation of new ground-bed and rectifier near St. Lazare, Manitoba (see CD-17902)
Item 2: Installation of new ground-bed and relocate existing rectifier near Minnedosa, Manitoba (see CD-17900)
Item 3: Installation of new ground-bed and rectifier near Melita, Manitoba (see CD-17903)
Item 4: Installation of new ground-bed and rectifier near Deloraine, Manitoba (see CD-17904)
Item 5: Installation of new ground-bed and rectifier near Killarney, Manitoba (see CD-17905)
1.2 Purchaser's Options:
Replacement of up to 89 existing checkpoint stations on gas transmission pipelines in the general area of the ICCPS installations as follows:
Item 10: 49 checkpoints on the St. Lazare (SLZ) transmission pipeline
Item 11: 7 checkpoints on the Minnedosa (MSA) transmission pipeline
Item 12: 9 checkpoints on the Melita (MEL) transmission pipeline
Item 13: 15 checkpoints on the Deloraine (DEL) transmission pipeline
Item 14: 9 checkpoints on the Killarney (KIL) transmission pipeline
Installation of three (3) solid state decouplers as follows:
Item 20 1 solid state decoupler, pedestal and wiring at Gate Station (GS) 043 near PTH 8 and Liss Road. Grounding system already installed.
Item 21 1 solid state decoupler, pedestal, grounding system and wiring at valve station (VS) 008 near Rushman Road (PR 321) and Blackdale Road (PR 220).
Item 22 1 solid state decoupler, pedestal, grounding system and wiring near PTH 7 and PR 321.
2 OPTIONS
For valuable consideration received, the Contractor hereby grants to the Purchaser the Option(s).
The Purchaser has the option, but not the obligation, to purchase the 89 checkpoint stations (Items 10 to 14) and solid state decouplers (Items 20 to 22) in the Contractor’s accepted Form of Tender (the “Option(s)”) as follows:
(a)the term of the Option(s) shall be three (3) months from the effective date of the Contract (the “Option(s) Period”)
(b)the Purchaser may exercise the Option(s) with respect to any of the said ITEMS severally, or in any combination(s), at any time(s) during the “Option(s) Period; and,
(c)The Purchaser shall exercise an Option(s) by written notice to the Contractor in the form of a Change Order informing of its election to do so with respect to an ITEM(s) within the Option(s) Period. Such notice from the Purchaser exercising an Option(s) shall constitute a binding agreement of purchase and sale and the Contract shall be deemed amended thereby and all terms and conditions of the Contract shall apply mutatis mutandis.
3 WORK SCHEDULE
The Purchaser expects that the Work will proceed according to the following schedule:
