Manitoba to Minnesota Transmission Project
Project Description and Update
This letter will serve as an update on the status of the Manitoba to Minnesota Transmission Project (MMTP) Transmission Line.
Licence:
The Environmental Licence approval review processes are underway at the provincial and federal levels.
The Clean Environment Commission reviewed the provincial application and recommended that a licence be issued for the project. Manitoba Hydro is now awaiting a licensing decision by Manitoba Sustainable Development.
The project also requires approval from the National Energy Board (NEB) and is currently under review with a hearing scheduled to begin in June 2018.

The Project’s in service date is scheduled for June 2020 and it is Manitoba Hydro’s intention to begin construction immediately upon receipt of approvals. The construction RFP is planned to be issued June 2018.
The transmission line is approximately 214 km in length and will be split into 2 sections based on geography, land use and tower type. Section 1 extends from the Dorsey station to Vivian Corner which includes the South Loop transmission corridor and Riel-Vivian transmission corridor. Section 2 extends from Vivian Corner to the US Border. Refer to the attachment for technical details.
The RFP will contain the full scope of transmission line construction; access, clearing, foundations/anchors, tower assembly/erection, conductor and OPGW installation.
