RRC Polytech is preparing to launch a transformative Energy Transition Institute that will position the Polytechnic as a leader in applied research, Indigenous collaboration, and workforce development in the clean energy sector. This initiative builds on a forthcoming preliminary environmental scan, which will: • Identify opportunities to align with Manitoba’s energy landscape (industry needs, policies, economic development strategies) • Identify opportunities to advance Indigenous economic reconciliation • Inform post-secondary program development, applied research directions, areas of technological focus, and investments related to supporting energy transition. This initiative also builds on a forthcoming Notre Dame campus Microgrid technology and feasibility assessment which will assess current energy infrastructure and identify the technical and financial feasibility of a Microgrid. The consultant will incorporate the recommended directions as a cornerstone of the proposal for the envisioned institute. The consultant will use the findings of the forthcoming environmental scan and microgrid feasibility assessment, and additional insights gathered through interviews and assessments to develop a comprehensive proposal for the Institute, with a strong emphasis on applied research, academic programming, international training opportunities, and infrastructure transformation at the Notre Dame Campus. Information on the complete expected scope of services is included in Schedule E of the RFP document.
