This Request for Qualifications (“RFQ” or “Solicitation”) is an invitation by the Government of Manitoba (“Manitoba”), as represented by the Minister of Public Service Delivery, to prospective Vendors to be shortlisted for the opportunity to respond to the Request for Proposals for the design of the Mother and Child Bison Monument in the second stage of this procurement process,
On November 19, 2024, the Manitoba Speech from the Throne was delivered, beginning with a commitment to commission a new statue on the front lawn of the Legislative Building. This statue of a mother and child bison is to serve as a symbol for all Manitobans, and as a reminder of the sacred bonds of family that were harmed in the residential school era. The monument will be the most prominent monument on the grounds, front and centre at the front of the building in relation to Broadway.
It is anticipated that the final design will be informed by the material, cultural, and archeological history of bison in Manitoba and its cultural significance to Indigenous peoples and all Manitobans.
This RFQ is open to design teams composed of visual artists, sculptors, landscape architects, architects, engineers and/or urban designers and other design professionals.
In consideration of Manitoba’s procurement policies, for this Solicitation, preference will be given to Canadian suppliers that have submitted compliant Submissions.
