This Expression of Interest (EOI) is being issued in collaboration with Keewatin Tribal Council (KTC) and Manitoba Keewatinowi Okimakanak (MKO) with the objective of identifying qualified and reputable financial institutions interested in delivering in-person financial services to northern and remote Indigenous community members and other passengers travelling through the Thompson Regional Airport.
Indigenous peoples have historically faced systemic barriers to mainstream financial services, including limited access to banking institutions and credit, which continue to affect housing, business, and economic opportunities. Major Canadian banks have very few branches in community, meaning many residents must travel to obtain these services or remain unbanked.
Through this service, the Thompson Regional Airport Authority seeks a partner capable of removing traditional barriers and delivering inclusive, accessible, reliable and culturally respectful financial services that serve the unique needs of northern and remote Indigenous community members.
The successful proponent will demonstrate an understanding of the Airport’s role as a regional service hub for Northern Manitoba and the importance of increasing the availability and accessibility of in-person financial services for Indigenous community members.
