Project Description:
As one (1) of the key strategic pillars in the WCB’s five-year (5-year) plan, “Secure the System for Tomorrow” ensures a strong foundation for the organization’s existing systems and allows for new and improved technical capabilities and technologies. The WCB has been actively progressing against its multi-year cybersecurity road map to mature its capability with the support of an external cybersecurity partner. The WCB aims to reach a maturity score of 2.5 by the end of 2025 and achieve a target state score of 3.2 by 2028 based on the National Institute of Standards and Technology Cybersecurity Framework (“NIST CSF”).
Over the past year, the WCB has established cybersecurity governance through its Office of the Chief Information Security Officer (“CISO”), improved system vulnerabilities, introduced a new security awareness and training program, and performed a number of assessments to identify and rate security risks in the technology environment.
To advance and accelerate current state maturity and mitigate existing high risks within the environment, the WCB intends to procure the services of a managed security service provider (“MSSP”) to help build and operate its cybersecurity practice, including the execution of the multi-year cybersecurity road map. The WCB may also engage separate third parties for security incident response services and security incident forensic services if a major security incident occurs.
The WCB will supply and maintain ownership of all licenses, software, hardware, cloud subscriptions, data, and any other associated tools or technologies required to support MSS. This includes the use of security tools available as part of WCB's M365 E5 subscription plan. All tools recommended or selected for use in support of MSS must be reviewed and approved by the WCB prior to deployment.
