Sandy Lake First Nation is a large, remote First Nation. It is located within the Kenora District along the Severn River, approximately 450 km northeast of Winnipeg, MB and 600 km northwest of Thunder Bay, ON.
Currently service providers need to book space in the High School or the Youth Centre to engage families and host activities. The new Mamow Weechiwaywin Child, Youth and Family Building will bring the community together and support, empower and uplift community members and families for years to come.
Sandy Lake First Nation have taken the first steps to identify and select a location for the new Mamow Weechiwaywin Child, Youth and Family Building. Additionally, a Geotechnical Investigation was completed of the recommended location and conceptual drawing were drafted.
It is noted that the process to retain the Design Consultant is already underway.
