NOSM University is seeking proposals from qualified Consulting Veterinarians to provide veterinary oversight, regulatory compliance support, and advisory services for its Animal Care Facility (ACF) located at the Health Sciences North Research Institute in Sudbury, Ontario.
NOSM University is transitioning from the establishment of its animal use program to an operational phase. The successful Proponent will support ongoing compliance with the Animals for Research Act (Ontario), Canadian Council on Animal Care (CCAC) requirements, and Tri-Agency expectations, while providing veterinary input into governance, facility oversight, and researcher support. Initial animal-based research is anticipated to involve rodent (mice) models.
Services will be provided primarily on a remote basis, with on-site attendance required for regulatory assessments, inspections, and other meetings as needed. The role is expected to evolve over time, with effort levels gradually decreasing as operations stabilize.
The estimated level of effort is approximately 10-20 hours per month, recognizing that hours may be higher during key milestones such as initial CCAC and OMAFA assessments or first animal studies, and may decrease as the Animal Care Facility becomes fully operational. The level of effort may be adjusted by mutual agreement to reflect evolving operational needs.
The initial term of the agreement will be three (3) years, with an option to extend for up to two (2) additional one-year periods, for a maximum potential term of five (5) years.
