RFP BACKGROUND
Key Objective
This Request for Proposal ("RFP") is an invitation by the University of Waterloo (“UW”) on behalf of the Theatres at UWaterloo in the Department of Communication in the Faculty of Arts to prospective Suppliers to submit pricing proposals, for ETC brand lighting equipment for the Humanities Theatre in Hagey Hall. The lighting plot has been designed by Arun Srinivasan, and we know what fixtures we want, with no substitutions.
Budget Maximum
The budget is capped at $250,000 CAD plus HST.

Our purpose
To provide a high-quality live performance venue for both internal and external clients, as well as a state-of-the art proscenium fly-house teaching space for the Theatre and Performance program.
What we do
The Theatres at UWaterloo is part of the Theatre and Performance program. We manage three theatre spaces across campus: the Humanities theatre (721 seat proscenium fly-house), the Theatre of the Arts (400 seat thrust stage) and Studio 180 (50 seat black box studio). These spaces are used by both internal and external clients to produce a wide variety of events and productions, such as concerts, theatre productions, musicals, dance recitals, stand-up comedy, lectures, and panel discussions. Our spaces are also the home base for the Theatre and Performance program classes and are used as a learning facility for the theatre production courses.
The Humanities Theatre hosts 75+ unique events on an annual basis, alongside classes and workshops for UWaterloo students. Over 40,000 patrons pass through our doors on an annual basis.
