The Purchaser is seeking Proposals from qualified and experienced Proponents to provide live varsity sports video production services.
Background
The Purchaser is a member of the Ontario Colleges Athletic Association and the Ontario Football Conference. As part of their membership, these organizations mandate that all regular season and post-season competitions hosted at member facilities be livestreamed. Currently, these livestreams must be broadcast via YouTube and remain accessible on the platform for on-demand viewing after the live event. The Purchaser will retain full ownership of all broadcasts.
The Purchaser has eleven (11) varsity teams that are subject to the livestreaming requirements of the Ontario Colleges Athletic Association and the Ontario Football Conference. As part of these obligations, the Purchaser broadcasts football, softball, baseball, soccer, volleyball, and basketball games for both regular season and post-season competitions.
The fall sports season runs from late July until mid-November each year. The winter sports season runs from mid-September until mid-March each year.
All varsity teams are active during the fall season and there are many instances where multiple games are scheduled on the same day. In such instances, games occur simultaneously and must be livestreamed concurrently.
The winter season overlaps with the fall season. Once the fall season concludes, only two teams remain active, continuing competition through to March.
Regular season schedules are established well in advance of the first games, allowing ample time for planning and coordination. In contrast, post-season schedules depend on regular season outcomes and are sometimes finalized as late as the final day of competition. While the Purchaser actively monitors standings and prepares for various scenarios, there may be as little as 5–7 days to organize livestreaming for a hosted post-season game.
