Alberta’s provincial parks and recreation areas conserve our natural heritage and provide popular nature-based recreation opportunities to visitors from across the province and around the world. They also play a major role in Alberta’s tourism industry, providing opportunities for small businesses and having positive impacts on the economies of many local communities.
Alberta Environment and Parks (the Province) is seeking business entities or non-profit organizations to provide park operations and maintenance services, including at campgrounds and day use areas, for Vermilion Provincial Park.
Vermilion Provincial Park is located along the western limits of the town of Vermilion, approximately 2 hours east of Edmonton on highway 16. The park is popular with local residents and folks traveling the Trans Canada Highway route. https://www.albertaparks.ca/parks/central/vermilion-pp/information-facilities/camping/vermilion/
The Park includes 124 camping sites that offer a variety of services, including power, power and water, and power, water and sewer, 5 day use areas including the CN station building complete with kitchen and meeting space, 3 group camping sites and 4 winter camping sites that are open year round.
A number of recreational opportunities exist within the park, including paddling along the Vermilion River and within the reservoir, hiking and biking on approximately 15 km of maintained backcountry and paved trails, mini-golf, Frisbee golf, fishing in the stocked trout pond, playing in the spray park, horseback riding on back country equestrian trails, and of course camping.
The Facility Operating Agreement will be for a five year term commencing February 15th, 2020.
Primary services provided as part of this Agreement include:
• operation and maintenance of the premises;
• provision of excellent customer service to visitors:
• collection of approved fees from visitors for use of the premises;
• public safety and control;
• managing access to the premises; and
• contacting local authorities for enforcement needs.
