Albertaâ€™s provincial parks and recreation areas conserve our natural heritage and provide popular nature-based recreation opportunities to visitors from across the province and around the world. They also play a major role in Albertaâ€™s tourism industry, providing opportunities for small businesses and having positive impacts on the economies of many local communities.
Alberta Environment and Parks (the Province) is seeking business entities or non-profit organizations to provide park operations and maintenance services, including at campgrounds and day use areas, for the Police Outpost Operating Group.
The Police Outpost Operating Group consists of; Police Outpost Provincial Park, Payne Lake Provincial Recreation Area (PRA), St. Mary Reservoir PRA, Oldman River PRA, Jensen Reservoir PRA and Woolford Provincial Park.
â€¢ Police Outpost Provincial Park (PP) is located 10 km south and 23 km west of Cardston on Hwy. 2. The site includes 46 unservice campsites, 1 day use area, 1 group camping area, and other amenities including; a playground, pier, fish cleaning stations pit/vault toilets and a boat launch.
â€¢ Payne Lake Provincial Recreation Area (PRA) is a scenic lakeside campground located 25km west of Cardston on Hwy. 5 (18km east of Waterton Lakes National Park on Hwy. 5). The premises includes 46 unserviced camp sites, a day use area and a boat launch.
â€¢ St. Mary Reservoir PRA is located 55 km southwest of Lethbridge on Hwy. 5 and 5 km northwest on Hwy. 505. St.Mary Lower campground has 38 power campsites. St. Mary Upper includes 30 unserviced campsites and 16 winter campsites. The PRA includes a total of 68 camping sites, 3 day use areas, 1 group camping area, and other amenities including; a playground, picnic shelters, pit/vault toilets and a boat launch.
â€¢ Oldman River PRA is located 5km Northwest of Fort MacLeod on highway AB-2 N. The site has a day use area and 40 campsites.
â€¢ Jensen Reservoir PRA is located approximately 50km south of Lethbridge, 31km south on highway 5 and 10 km south on highway 62. The site consists of a day use area.
â€¢ Woolford PP is located 18 km east of Cardston, 4km northeast on highway AB-5 and 10km southeast on AB-503E. The premises includes a day use area and 17 campsites.
The Facility Operating Agreement will be for a five year term commencing February 15th, 2020.
Primary services provided as part of this Agreement include:
â€¢ operation and maintenance of the premises;
â€¢ provision of excellent customer service to visitors:
â€¢ collection of approved fees from visitors for use of the premises;
â€¢ public safety and control;
â€¢ managing access to the premises; and
â€¢ contacting local authorities for enforcement needs.
