Sturgeon County is an agricultural powerhouse. The county’s total farm area is nearly 480,000 acres with Class 1 Soils throughout. Agriculture is the top land use in Sturgeon County and has a residential population of 20,506 (2019). The county has a long and proud history of farming and agriculture that dates back well over a century. Since 1992, Sturgeon County has presented 100-Year Farm Family awards to local farming families that have been actively producing in the county for a century or more.

The County is seeking a consultant to spearhead the Sturgeon County Agribusiness and Agritourism Review Task Force to foster opportunities for residents and business owners to collaborate and help Sturgeon County continue to be at the forefront of agriculture and agricultural related practices. The intention is to identify means to ensure the County’s economic and regulatory competitiveness, and ongoing safety and success of operators.

Proponents are advised to pay careful attention to the wording used throughout this RFP. Failure to satisfy any term or condition of this RFP may result in an unacceptable Proposal and disqualification from this process. The County is looking for a consultant with a strong background in rural economic development, land use planning, strategic advisory service, committee facilitation, and community engagement.
