The Corporation of the District of North Vancouver (the Owner) invites tenders for ITT-013-25, Replacement of Lynn Canyon East Approach Structure to Suspension Bridge.
Lynn Canyon Park, a celebrated attraction in the District of North Vancouver, is home to the iconic Lynn Canyon Suspension Bridge, a vital link within the park's trail network. East of the suspension bridge lies its timber approach structure, featuring a boardwalk and staircase supported by steel and wooden columns anchored to concrete footings. The Contractor will be required to demolish, remove, and replace the existing timber approach structure, adjacent staircase, and west approach components in Lynn Canyon Park.
The Scope of Work generally involves the following:
- Demolition, removal, transportation, and disposal of the existing timber approach structure and adjacent staircase,
- Supply and installation of a new timber approach structure and staircase, including handrails, railings, chain-link fencing, decking, stringers, blocking, cross bracing, columns, joists, and gates,
- Supply and installation of new anchorage points on the suspension bridge cable for rope access purposes,
- Temporary closure of the east and west ends of the suspension bridge to the public using steel fencing panels with wire mesh, barricades, caution tape, and appropriate warning signs securely chained to the fence as outlined in the Project Drawings,
- Temporary closure and re-opening of Lynn Canyon Park trails during working hours using steel fencing panels with wire mesh, barricades, caution tape, and appropriate warning signs chained to the fence as outlined in the Project Drawings,
- Demolition, salvage, and re-installation of existing hardware approved by the District and Engineer of Record,
- Supply and installation of new hardware, fasteners, and reinforcing steel required for the successful completion of the work,
- Provision of traffic control personnel to ensure the safety of park users, in compliance with the approved pedestrian and traffic management plan,
- Match cut the existing wood and install a rubber perimeter for the west anchorage locker hatch covers,
- Demolition, removal, transportation, and disposal of existing fencing on the east structure walkway and foundation for new fencing gates,
- Supply and installation of new fencing gates on the east structure walkway and foundation,
- Demolition, removal, transportation, and disposal of existing fencing on the west approach for new fencing gates,
- Supply and installation of new fencing gates on the west approach,
- Clearing, removal and disposal of debris buildup around the chain-link fence at the west approach,
- Supply and installation of concrete infill repair to the west bridge approach, and
- Supply, installation, and execution of a fall protection system to ensure worker safety during the course of work, in accordance with WorkSafe BC standards.
