Aviation Artifact Care and Maintenance
• The Contractor will conduct required inspections of the aviation collection that will be used to identify any concerns or issues with the long-term preservation of the collections.
• The Contractor will develop a schedule of preventative maintenance and project work within the first month of the Contract in consultation with the Project Steering Committee.
• The preventative maintenance schedule, projects and work performed will be reflected in the Contractor’s monthly reports.
• All cleaning, remedial work and preservation will be completed to a museum professional level and will be periodically inspected by the project steering committee as part of project evaluation. Cleaning and preparation will include as a minimum: o Dusting; o Vacuuming; o Applying protective coatings of polish or waxes; o Treating leather or fabric upholstery; o Lubricating appropriate components; o Wood repair or stabilization; o Aircraft fabric treatment and stabilization
• The Contractor will be responsible for safe movement of aviation artifacts between collection storage and display spaces at the Reynolds Museum at the request of the Project Steering Committee or Museum designate.
• The Contractor will move the current aviation artifact from its display pad at the front of the museum to another space on the campus during the term of the contract. Logistics and Movement
• The Contractor shall work with the Reynolds Museum on an overall work plan needed to consolidate all remaining aviation artifacts currently stored off-site of the Reynolds Museum’s main campus to be prepared, moved, and secured in new or existing storage on-site. This work plan will include: o Develop a listing for the preparation, stabilization and preservation of all aviation artifacts held by the Province of Alberta that are currently being stored off-site.
