The National Research Council of Canada (NRC) – Canadian Construction Materials Centre (CCMC) offers a national evaluation service for innovative building materials, products, systems and services in all types of construction. CCMC’s evaluations are supported by the latest technical research and expertise based on the requirements of the National Building Code of Canada as well as the Provincial and Territorial Building Codes. In support of the National Code Adoption by approximately 5500 Building Officials across Canada, CCMC has been charged with defining the priorities in direction, core values and needs, and priority of projects. This initiative supports innovation, code harmonization, labor mobility and improved consistency in National Building Code (NBC) application across Canada’s provinces, territories and first nations. This focused approach will ensure that Building Officials are informed, educated and certified in accordance with the defined priorities which will move forward with the proper governance structure.
