Description

Background: We currently do not have an effective way to communicate with our staff and students in a timely manner. During the wild fire of 2016, the only means of communication we had was social media. This event highlighted a requirement for a College Notification System. The intended use for this system would be for events like school closures, room changes, or important communications to particular groups of stakeholders.

Objectives: The aim of implementing a new notification software is to:

• Increase student communication by using multi-channel messaging via voice, text, email, social media, desktop pop-up, and web.
• Increase student and staff safety by ensuring messages can be sent immediately to ensure information can be disseminated in a timely manner. (Emergency / school shooter etc.)
• The process must be simple and easy to use
• Enable Classroom messaging – Provide instructors with powerful messaging tools
• Create analytics and reporting
• Engage our international students to receive instant translation to more than 50 languages – Text to speech, text to text
• Complex scenario handling – Control how messages are delivered based on notification type and other criteria. For example: send emergency information via text and all other information via email.

Requirements: It is proposed that a Notification System Software Tool be implemented to communicate to staff and students.
