The Deliverables consist of two separate projects:
1. Dale Meadows Road Watermain Replacement The Consultant will be responsible to design approximately 1,200m of proposed domestic watermain for replacement on Dale Meadows Road from Walton Street to Haddrell Avenue. The proposed watermain will be installed beside the existing 250mm asbestos cement watermain (to be abandoned) on the straight section from Haddrell Avenue to the east side of Gould Avenue and will be installed in a new alignment under the road surface along the curved sections from Gould Avenue to Walton Street. The scope of the work includes reconstructing Dale Meadow Road from the existing 7m wide rural road to include a secondary bicycle route, such as shoulder bikeways or shared use lanes. As per the District’s Cycling Master Plan, shoulder bikeways can be used in rural areas to provide a dedicated space for people cycling on rural roads and are typically 1.8m wide but can be reduced to 1.5m wide. Alternatively, shared use lanes may be considered with the lane widths to be no less than 4.3m. For more details, please see Part E, Attachment 1 – Dale Meadows Road Location Map; Part E, Attachment 2 – Dale Meadows Road Record Drawings; and Part E, Attachment 3 – Cycling Master Plan reference information. 2. Canyon View Road a. Watermain Replacement
The Consultant will be responsible to design approximately 1,000m of proposed watermain for replacement along Canyon View Road west of Simpson Road, including watermain on Paradise Road, McGee Street and Mountain Avenue. The proposed watermain will be installed beside the existing watermain (to be abandoned) which includes 250mm and 300mm asbestos cement on Canyon View Road; 250mm asbestos cement on Paradise Road and McGee Street; and 100mm asbestos cement on Mountain Avenue. The scope of work reconstructing Canyon View Road, Paradise Road and McGee Street from the existing 7m-9m wide rural road to include a secondary bicycle route, such as shoulder bikeways or shared use lanes. As per the District’s Cycling Master Plan, if shared use lanes are considered, the minimum lane width is to be no less than 4.3m. b. Watermain Relocation In addition to the detailed design for replacement, a preliminary design and feasibility assessment for an alternative watermain alignment is required. Due to the Perpetual Slide located southeast of Canyon View Road and Paradise Road, Canyon View Road and the utilities within this roadway are at risk. The Consultant will be tasked with reviewing the feasibility of establishing a legal utility easement at the rear of the properties that front Canyon View Road in order to accommodate the watermain as well as other utilities.
