419804 - Maloney Place Recommissioning Pilot Project

In 2013, the City of St. Albert approved an energy conservation and greenhouse gas reduction local action plan. In support of this action plan, the City is actively pursuing opportunities in its corporate buildings to reduce energy consumption and associated greenhouse gas emissions.
In January 2020, Natural Resources Canada issued a Call for Proposals for Existing Building Commissioning (EBCx) Projects in Canada, the goal of which is to create a library of EBCx Case Studies in support of its national Framework for Existing Building Commissioning (EBCx) programming. In response to the Call, the City of St. Albert submitted a proposal for the Maloney Place Recommissioning Pilot Project and was subsequently selected as a successful project.
The objective of this project is to achieve optimum building operation and performance through tuned, optimized and documented systems and training for operations and maintenance staff. This will result in energy and GHG savings, longer equipment life, operation and maintenance savings, and increased occupant comfort. This project is also a pilot building recommissioning project to help inform and advance future building recommissioning projects at City of St. Albert facilities.
This project will observe the building’s present operation and maintenance strategies and practices in an attempt to find cost effective improvements that can be implemented primarily by the owner’s building staff and service contractors. It does not include extensively investigating or implementing capital improvements; however, in the course of the assessment, any energy efficient capital improvements that are thought to be effective will be offered as recommendations to the owner.
The successful consultant will be responsible for the provision of project management services for the duration of the project.
