Take notice that, pursuant to Section 20 of the Forest Act, Timber Sale Licence (TSL) TA1493 is being offered for sale by BC Timber Sales Babine Business Area. Tenders will be accepted from individuals or corporations registered as a BC Timber Sales enterprise in Category 1 and 2 under the BC Timber Sales Regulation.
Please note, this TSL is part of a pilot of the Forest Professional Oversight and Certification (FPOC) model being examined by BC Timber Sales as a method for ensuring that Forest Stewardship Plan (FSP) commitments are achieved. As such, the successful bidder will be required to submit a conformance certificate that confirms that primary forest activities conducted under this TSL are consistent with the applicable FSP commitments. A sample of the conformance certificate and associated BC Timber Sales Advisory Bulletin have been included as attachments to this Notice.
Effective Friday March 20, 2020, and until further notice: Following the advice of the Provincial Health Officer and in support of the established social distancing practices, the Nadina Natural Resource Office in Burns Lake will no longer be providing in-person public service. Tenders can still be mailed or dropped off in the secure mail slot at the main entrance of the building, and results will be posted to the BC Timber Sales website in a timely manner following the opening.

Total Estimated Timber Sale Volume: 25,228m3, more or less
Estimated Road Permit Volume external to the block/s: 0m3, more or less
Estimated Area: 301.8 ha.
Estimated Species: Balsam 14,035m³(56%), Spruce 6,040m³(24%), Lodgepole pine 5,153m³(20%), more or less.
The preceding volume and species estimates are based on samples from a Professional Estimate. Please see tender package for additional detail. Bidders are strongly advised to conduct a thorough field review of the licence area to verify timber volume and grade estimates.
Licence Term: 26 months (August 2023)
Total Stumpage Value: $25,228.00. The Total Stumpage Value was determined in accordance with the Interior Appraisal Manual.
This is a cruise based TSL pursuant to section 106 of the Forest Act. Scaling of logs is not required for billing purposes. The Total Amount of Stumpage and the Bonus Offer will be payable in periodic increments upon commencement of harvesting.

The successful applicant will be required to implement and conform to the BC Timber Sales Environmental Management System and this TSL also conforms to the standards of the following forest management certification system: Sustainable Forestry Initiative.
All individuals, corporations or partnerships who provide direction to workers or contractors who work or operate on TSL area(s) will be required to be certified as SAFE Companies, endorsed by the BC Forest Safety Council as new entrants, or certified under a safety certification scheme recognized by the BC Forest Safety Council or BC Timber Sales, or work for an employer that is so certified or endorsed. On April 23, 2020 the Provincial Public Health Officer (PHO) signed an Order under the Public Health Act regarding the management of Industrial Camps to prevent and control the risk of transmission of COVID-19.
