Summary Details:
The RDEK has obtained grant funding from the UBCM Community Emergency Preparedness Fund for development of a regional Evacuation Route Plan.

Six municipalities, four First Nations and the RDEK partnered for the grant. In addition to the regional application, one additional municipality (Invermere) within the region applied separately for funding and was successful. The remaining municipality (Sparwood) had applied for funding in a previous intake and has an existing Evacuation Route Plan in place.

The Regional District of East Kootenay is located in the South East corner of BC and consists of eight municipalities, four First Nation bands and Electoral areas A, B, C, E, F, G. All communities in the region are partners in the East Kootenay Emergency Management Program (EKEMP), administered and managed by the RDEK Protective Services department.
