Description

In 1639-1649, Jesuit fathers, French workers and the Huron-Wendat people built a central mission together. You can still visit this important historic site today in Midland, Ontario. We’re looking for a vendor to help us tell this amazing story in video to our park visitors.

Visitors to Sainte-Marie among the Hurons, a site operated by Huronia Historical Parks (“HHP”), are shown an introductory video about the site when they arrive. This video provides important historical context necessary for visitors to understand the attraction.

The existing 18-minute video is visibly dated in technology and approach, containing content that is no longer appropriate by today’s standards. The current video is comprised of photographic stills, illustrations, music, supers and voice overs.

The Ministry is looking to retain a Vendor to provide a ten-minute long film (the "Video") that tells the story of the Jesuit fathers, French workers, lay brothers and Huron-Wendat people who built a central mission amongst the Huron-Wendat Nation during the period of 1639-1649.

This production will be developed with input from Jesuit fathers, Jesuits of Upper Canada, the Huron-Wendat Nation, the Wendake Quebec, and Ministry stakeholders and will be viewed by the general public, adult tour groups and students participating in curriculum-based programs.

This new Video production may include a variety of different productions styles to be determined through consultation with the selected vendor: e.g., live action, photographic stills, illustrations, animations, interviews, etc.
Scope of Work
Development of the script and production of the Video will require research, community outreach, interpretation programming and audio-visual production.

Research and Script Development
• Preparation of a historical, cultural and literary script
• Review past productions as examples

Stakeholder Input
• Engage with HHP staff and community stakeholders (i.e., Huron-Wendat Nation, Wendake Quebec and the Jesuits of Upper Canada)
• HHP staff will facilitate outreach for this component.

Development of Video elements, treatment/concept
• Develop key interpretive messages needed in an introduction to the experience in consultation with the Huron Wendat Nation and the Jesuits
• Develop a storyboard and script of the production.
• Gain stakeholder and partner approval on script
• Receive HHP steering committee script approval.
• Produce the Video based on the approved script

The successful Bidder will be able to demonstrate
• Experience with creative design
• Experience with video production; script writing; storyboarding; editing and translation
• Experience in consultation with a variety of stakeholders
