Description

Sole Source for ZEISS ELYRA 7 with Lattice SIM2 & 3D Single Molecule Localization Microscopy

The Elyra 7 system is the only commercial Super-Resolution Structured Illumination Microscopy (SIM) system that integrates Lattice Light Pattern Illuminations for highest resolution (60 nm) and full 3D Single-Molecule Localization Microscopy (SMLM) with the largest 3D capture range (1.4 µm).

The following specifications met by the Elyra 7 system are unique and crucial for our application portfolio:
- Patented Structured Illumination technology, exclusively licensed to ZEISS: Lattice SIM Illumination for highest signal-to-noise imaging at lowest laser power at highest resolution of any SIM Microscopy system

- Lattice SIM: lateral/axial resolution of 60nm/200nm

- Additional SIM modality: Including grid (“Apotome”) structured illumination mode with 140nm/270nm lateral/axial resolution

- Highest SIM Acquisition Speed (1280 x 512 -> 2560x1024 resulting pixels in processed image):
o 29 FPS in Lattice SIM mode (9 phases)
o 85 FPS in Apotome mode (3 phases)
o 255 FPS in Lattice SIM “burst” mode (single frame readout acquisition)

- Largest Field-of-view FOV:
o > 80x80 µm (using 63x Objective) in Lattice SIM mode,
o > 125x125 µm in Apotome SIM mode (using 40x Objective)
o > 250 x 250 µm in Apotome SIM mode (using 20x Objective)
o > 500 x 500 µm in Apotome SIM mode (using 10x Objective)

- Lattice SIM allowing artifact free SIM imaging in deep scattering tissue (> 100 µm depth)

- Integrated Single Molecule Localization Microscopy (SMLM) with largest field-of view (FOV) and 3D capture range:
o High powered (500 mW) lasers at 488, 561, 642 nm
o Largest FOV imaging (80 x 80 µm) using 63X objective
o 3D SMLM imaging using Phase Ramp (PRILM) slider for z-capture range of 1.4 µm

- Software & Hardware integration into already existing Imaging Infrastructure:
o 2D and 3D correlative hardware- and software alignment to allow overlay with data sets acquired on existing Laser Scanning Microscopes, Compound Microscopes and Slide Scanners
o Full file format interchangeability
o Allowing for streamlined user and staff training
o Upgradable to Laser scanning microscope ZEISS LSM 980 with Airyscan
A committee composed of 4 faculty members 2 core facility managers evaluated almost all possible solutions on the market in the last year and half and concluded that this is the only suitable solution meeting our diverse needs.
