Unison Health & Community Services is a non-profit organization providing a wide array of programs and services to individuals of all ages, cultures and backgrounds across 6 geographical locations in North West Toronto. Approximately 200 employees eligible for group benefits.
Unison is seeking a Proponent to provide cost-effective group benefits insurance and administration services for approximately 200 employees. The successful Proponent will replicate the existing benefit plan design and underwriting structure summarized in Section 1.2 and further described within the Confidential Data.
The incumbent group benefits provider has administered the group benefits coverage since at least 2011. Underwriting of the benefits program is as follows:
• Employee Life, Accidental Death & Dismemberment (AD&D), & Long-Term Disability (LTD) coverages are fully-insured on a non-refund basis.
• Extended Health Care (EHC) & Dental Care coverages are administered on a risk-limited Administrative Services Only (ASO) basis.
• In-Canada Medical claims are subject to a large amount pooling limit of $20,000 per individual annually.
• Emergency Travel Assistance & Out-of-Canada Emergency Medical claims are fully insured from the 1st dollar.
There is one billing division and three benefit classes. The Nurse Practitioners group has recently joined ONA, while the other employee groups are non-union.

Plan design and funding rates are currently uniform across employee groups. The benefits plan consists of the benefits below. Full specifications will be included in the Confidential Data to be provided to eligible Proponents.

The benefits plan year is aligned with Unison’s fiscal year (Apr 1st to Mar 31st).
The term of the agreement will be for an initial period of 3 years, with the opportunity for renewal.
