The purpose of this RFP is to secure a reliable and competent Contractor(s) to provide installation services of an Evaporator on purchased equipment at the Agrivalue Processing Business Incubator (APBI) at Leduc, AB.
a) Project Background- Two years ago an evaporator was removed from Suite F at our Agrivalue Process Business Incubator (APBI) to accommodate the installation of a spray dryer. Since the evaporator was removed, it was used (repurposed) in a space (Suite B) occupied by a tenant who needed additional cooling capacity. This left Suite F short on refrigeration capacity. We also have a larger evaporator on site that was removed for the same reason, to accommodate the installation of a spray dryer. That unit is not going back to its original location, so we would like to used it in Suite F, where we know our refrigeration capacity has been reduced.
b) Project Objectives-The installation of this evaporator will allow us to restore the full refrigeration capacity of Suite F, which will be leased to a private sector client July 23rd. Since the evaporator has a slightly larger capacity it will have a bonus benefit of having additional cooling capacity, which is always a bonus for our tenants.
c) Project Structure/ Business model- The vendor is responsible for the full scope of work, including engineering, planning, installation commissioning and tie ins to the facility BMCS, but not programming. Programming will be completed by the local operator (BGIS).
d) Key Stakeholders- The project is to satisfy the need of a client of Agriculture and Irrigation. However, although the project is being managed by Agriculture and Irrigation, the project coordination will involve; Tenant occupying the space, BGIS as a facility TPM and Alberta Infrastructure if necessary. This has already been communicated.
e) Related Project Documents- Attached, is the mechanical blueprint of the existing system for the space occupied, including the entire “Suite”. The evaporator, although larger, will be easy to secure in the same space which was occupied by the smaller unit, removed two years ago.
f) Miscellaneous- All regulatory requirements including safe operating procedures with respect to ammonia, ammonia release and handling procedures are to be followed. It is the vendors responsibility to provide a detailed hazard assessment to the proponent which will be shared with all stakeholders.
