This Request for Proposal (RFP) seeks for one or more qualified contractor(s) to support the implementation of restoration activities in the Richardson Caribou Range. The selected contractor(s) will be responsible for executing operational planning along with restoration and line deactivation activities within designated compartment(s).
The objectives of this project are as follows:
• Silviculture Strategy: Include a detailed silviculture strategy within the operational plan, outlining tree management procedures (e.g., stock handling and storage) and seedling prescriptions appropriate to the site type. Contractors are encouraged to consider different seedling stock sizes that may have additional success in nutrient-limited site types.
• Stakeholder Identification and Engagement: Identify Indigenous communities, rights holders and trappers along with key stakeholders within the compartment, such as industry representatives. Provide a clear consultation strategy for each group.
• Ground Verification and GIS Data: Demonstrate robust ground verification methods, supported by aerial assessments (via helicopter and/or drone), to define treatment prescriptions. Deliver all spatial data in the CHRP standardized Geographic Information System (GIS) formats.
• Framework Compliance: Ensure that operations adhere to the guiding principles and requirements outlined in the “Provincial Restoration and Establishment Framework for Legacy Seismic Lines in Alberta”.
• Protection of Natural Regeneration: Where feasible, protect existing advanced regeneration along linear features without compromising the overall restoration targets set by the Framework.
• High-Quality Treatment Implementation: Deliver site preparation and planting treatments to a high standard of quality, addressing unique site-specific limiting factors. Implement these treatments with a robust chain of custody and at the approved operational plan densities.
• Linear Deactivation: Apply linear deactivation treatments in a manner that effectively block human access and disrupt predator movement patterns, ensuring treatment densities and intervals align with the approved operational plan.
