This Work includes the construction of a new public streets, renewal of existing public streets, and services as shown on the Project Drawings. All work is to be in accordance with West Hants Regional Municipality specifications, the Standard Specifications for Municipal Services, and Nova Scotia Environment and Climate Change’s requirements. The project is located in Windsor, Nova Scotia.
The Work generally consists of the following:
.1 Locate all existing infrastructure prior to construction and provide one week for review by the Owner.
.2 All earthwork including but not limited to mass excavation, import of material, export of material, and removal and disposal of unsuitable material. Grade changes to be approved by the Engineer. The Engineer and Owner will not unreasonably refuse grade change requests. The Contractor is to pay for design fees for re-design of grades. All borrow, disposal of excess fill, disposal of grubbings and unsuitable fill will be off-site.
.3 All Water System work, including but not limited to water pipe, hydrants, laterals, valves, connection to existing systems, temporary water, and testing.
.4 All Wastewater System work, including but not limited to sanitary sewer pipe, manholes, connection to existing systems, temporary sewer, sleeving, and testing.
.5 All Stormwater System work, including but not limited to stormwater pipe, manholes, culverts, headwalls, control structures, rock lining, ditches/channels, stormwater management ponds, and testing.
.6 All Street Construction, including but not limited to gravels, driveways, concrete curbs, concrete sidewalks, asphalt pavement, line painting, traffic signage installation.
.7 Obtaining approval and necessary permits from the appropriate authorities of the West Hants Regional Municipality and their associated costs.
.8 Adhere to the conditions contained in the “Approval for Construction – Storm Drainage Works – and culvert approvals” from Nova Scotia Environment and Climate Change.
.9 All Environmental Protection, including but not limited to dewatering, erosion and sedimentation control measures including silt fences, flow checks, ground covers, water treatment, and all other environmental controls required during the course of the Work in accordance with Nova Scotia Environment and Climate Change requirements and ongoing site requirements based on weather and site conditions.
.10 Provision of environmental protection for the duration of the Work, including one year following Ready-for-Takeover acceptance by the Owner.
.11 Traffic control as per West Hants Regional Municipality and Nova Scotia Department of Public Works Temporary Workplace Traffic Control Manual requirements and the management of a safe work site.
.12 A written traffic control plan is required to be submitted to the Owner, and to be approved by West Hants Regional Municipality prior to the start of construction.
.13 Protection of all existing infrastructure and utilities, including notification and coordination with all relevant utilities (including, but not limited to, Nova Scotia Power, Bell Aliant, Eastlink, West Hants Regional Municipality, and obtaining all related approvals).
.14 Shoring of utility poles, as needed.
.15 All work shown on the drawings is included in this contract.
.16 All incidental items and costs associated with completing the work.
.17 Coordinate construction with adjacent property owners. Maintain safe access to driveways and properties for the duration of the Work.
Provision of temporary access to all residents affected by the Work, as required and directed by the Owner.
With the permission of the Owner, bidders may visit and examine the site and sub-surface conditions to satisfy themselves of the conditions which may be encountered during execution of the Work.
