PHSA 03353 - Myofibrillar Atomic Force Microscopy

Notice is hereby given that Provincial Health Services Authority ("PHSA") intends to enter into an agreement with the following supplier for one (1) unit Myofibrillar Atomic Force Microscope (AFM) for a term of one (1) year at an estimated value of $111,600 CAD.

In accordance with applicable trade agreements, PHSA, has chosen not to proceed with a competitive process for the following reason:
· the goods or services can be supplied only by the selected supplier and no alternative or substitute exists for the following reason:
o for technical reasons for technical reasons the goods or services can be supplied only by a particular supplier and no alternative or substitute exists
PHSA requires a Myofibrillar Atomic Force Microscope for the measurement of nanoNewton levels of force generated by cardiac myofibrils. The included software and the hardware are uniquely designed for this purpose specifically. No other commercially available instrument can perform these tasks. The Myofibrillar Atomic Force Microscopy is the only AFM on the market custom-built for this purpose. Aurora Scientific Inc. is the only distributor and manufacturer of the analyzer required in Canada.
Vendors who wish to challenge this decision should submit a detailed written objection for the attention of Steven Berger, Buyer, Sourcing team, PHSA by email before 2:00pm Pacific Time, June 3, 2020. PHSA will review any and all issues received by this date and provide due consideration to each objection.
