2020-19 - Architectural Services - New Sportsplex Fieldhouse

This Request for Proposals (the "RFP") is an invitation by the Corporation of the District of North Cowichan (the "District") to prospective proponents to submit proposals for Architectural Services for new Sportsplex Fieldhouse

The Cowichan Sportsplex is a regional outdoor sports, fitness and recreation park covering more than 26 acres in the Valley that typically sees more than 200,000 visits each year. The Sportsplex and its facilities have hosted many major events over the years, including the 2018 BC Summer Games, the North American Indigenous Games in 2008, and the BC Senior Games in 2005.

The District is building a new field house thanks to a grant from the Government of Canada, the Province of British Columbia and locally raised funds by the Chesterfield Sports Society.

The new field house will significantly improve the quality of this community recreational facility by adding fully accessible public washrooms and change rooms, a multi-purpose community meeting and event space, and a much-improved facility administration area. The new facility will replace two existing portable buildings: one that acts as a washroom facility/meeting room/staff lunchroom that has exhausted its usable life and is plagued with significant health and safety issues, and another that houses administration offices.
